A Call For Donations!

Younger American Poets Reading Series brings nationally renowned writers to a stage in Des Moines to share their work while engaging in and cultivating the preexisting literary culture in Central Iowa.  This fall, eight poets will come to Iowa to share their poetry in Beaverdale Books at a free, public reading. These readings occur once a month and often gather a full house, but we need your help to continue our program.

This summer, Younger American Poets Reading Series is looking to raise $2,000 in order to cover the simple yet necessary expenses for our poets to visit Des Moines. Places to stay, food to eat, transportation from states like New York and Colorado are all necessities that we must cover in order for these reading events to continue. Whether you donate a few dollars or a larger sum, we guarantee that no portion of your donation will be used to pay coordinators, interns or the Metro Arts Alliance of Des Moines--we are committed to channeling all resources back to the community!

The Metro Arts Alliance of Greater Des Moines is an accredited 501(c)3 non-profit organization, committed to promoting the arts and artists in Des Moines through a variety of valuable arts projects like ours. Please consider assisting us in bringing some of these passionate and talented poets to Des Moines, in the form of a donation to Metro Arts Alliance on behalf of Younger American Poets Reading Series.  All donations are tax-deductible! 

To Make A Donation:

1. Send a check to Metro Arts, 305 East Court Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50309. Include a note that the donation is for YAPRS.

2. Visit the Metro Arts Alliance Homepage to enter your desired donation amount and to pay by credit card. Donate here! After your payment is successful, please remember to email youngeramericanpoets@gmail.com with the name(s) of all donors you wish to be credited by Metro Arts for your gift, and the amount gifted. Gifts donated without a reply-confirmation will still be processed by Metro Arts, but will not be applied directly to the Younger American Poets Reading Series. Please, help us by letting us know after your donation. 


With your help, we will be able to ensure that for each monthly event, a nationally established poet will be able to join us here in Des Moines for this free public reading.
